Family Background

Robert Kardashian, a defense attorney, married Kris Houghton, popularly known as Jenner, in 1978. They had three daughters (Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe) and one son (Rob) together, all born in Los Angeles, California. They divorced in 1990 and in 1991, Kris married Bruce Jenner, an Olympic champion. The two had two daughters; Kendall (born 1995) and Kylie (born 1997).

Robert Kardashian

Robert Kardashian is popularly known for defending O.J Simpson in a lengthy trial, where O.J was accused of killing Ronald Goldman and Brown Simpson. In 2003, Robert died from esophageal cancer. He was the son of Armenian-American parents and was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended Dorsey high school and went to University of Southern California, where he graduated in 1966. He went to the University of San Diego, School of Law and graduated with a law degree and thereafter practiced law for ten years.

After he divorced Jenner, he got engaged to DeniceShakarian before he broke it off and got married to Jan Ashley in 1998. He divorced her later and married Ellen Pierson before he died two months later.

 

Kris Jenner

Kris "Jenner" is a television personality, author and American socialite born in 1955. She was born in San Diego, California and was raised by her mum when her parents divorced when she was seven years old. She went to Clairemont High School. She has undergone plastic surgery twice; with the latest one being in 2011. She also has two tattoos. One of the tattoos is a cross on her lower back while the other two are the names of her daughters; Kylie and Kendall. On November 1st, 2011, her book "Kris Jenner and All Things Kardashian" was released.

 

Kourtney Kardashian

Kourtney was born on April 18, 1979 and is the eldest in the Kardashian family. She is a fashion designer, television personality and American socialite. Her parents divorced when she was 11 years old. She attended the Marymount High school which is an all girls' Roman Catholic school in Los Angeles. Following graduation, she attended Southern Methodist University for two years in Dallas, Texas. She later graduated with a bachelor's degree with a major in Theatre Arts and a minor in Spanish from the University of Arizona. Her classmates were Luke Walton and Nicole Richie.

Kourtney became famous when she starred in a 2004 TV series, "Filthy Rich; Cattle Drive". She later became a cast in "Keeping up with the Kardashians". In 2006, she began dating Scott Disick with whom she has two children; Mason Dash born 2009 and Penelope Scotland born 2012.

 

Kim Kardashian

Kim is the second in the Kardashian family. She was born on October 21, 1980 and is a television personality and American socialite. In 1998, she graduated from Marymount high school. She was introduced to the socialite scene by her then friend, Paris Hilton. Kim married Damon Thomas, a music producer in 2000. The marriage ended in a divorce in 2004. She later on became Brandy Norwood's personal stylist where she met and started dating Ray J. she made a sex tape with him in 2003 which was later leaked in February 2007. The tape was bought at $1million by Vivid Entertainment and released on February 21st titled "Kim Kardashian: Superstar". She sued the company in April that same year but dropped the suit and agreed to a settlement of $5 million.

In October 2007, the reality TV show "keeping up with the Kardashians" premiered on E! Since then, 7 seasons have aired. In Decenber 2007, she posed nude for the popular magazine, Playboy. Kim has also dated Reggie Bush who is an NFL star, Nick Cannon, Miles Austin, Gabriel Aubry and Kris Humphries. She is currently dating Kanye West with whom she is expecting a baby.

Khloe Kardashian Odom

Born in June 27th, 1984, Khloe is a presenter, actress, author, fashion designer, business woman, TV personality and American socialite. She was homeschooled after dropping out of high school and graduated with honors at the age of 17. She stars in "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and has a business interest in D-A-S-H, a clothing boutique in SoHo, Miami and Calabass. She also hosts a radio show, "The Mix up with KhloeKardashian Odom". She married lamar Odom, an NBA basketball player, in 2009.

 

Rob Kardashian

Rob was born on March 17th, 1987 and is the last born in the Kardashian family. In 2009, he graduated from University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. He is a socialite as well as an American TV personality. From 2007 to 2009, he dated Adrienne Bailon, an actress. Their relationship was featured in the reality show "Keeping up with the Kardashians". In October 2012, he confirmed that he was dating Rita Otara but ended their relationship in December that same year. He is known for featuring in the 13th season of "keeping up with the Stars" where he ended up second place with his dancing partner Cheryl Burke.

Keeping Up With The Kardashians Reality TV Show

This is an American TV reality show that premiered on October 14, 2007 on E! Before the show premiered, there was an announcement on E! that they would air a reality show which did not have a title yet. With Ryan Seacrest as the executive producer, he described the Kardashians as a family that would entertain the audience. The announcement of the premier of the Kardashians' reality show was announced soon after Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton announced that their E! series "The Simple Life" had come to an end.

E! announced on 14th November 2007 that the show was set to renew for another season. The executive vice president of series development and programming, Lisa Berger, said that the Kardashians was a family that most people could relate to and had become one of the most talked about reality shows.

The show led to development of other spin-offs such as "Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami" which premiered in April, 2009 and "Kourtney and Kim Take New York" which premiered on January 23rd, 2011 on E! "Khloe and Lamar" is also another spin-off that aired on April 10th, 2011 on E! but the second season stopped airing on February 19th, 2012. In 2010, "Keeping up with the Kardashians" grossed approximately $65 million. E! signed another three year deal on April 24th, 2012 to keep the show on air. The deal was estimated to be about $40 million.
