The gum used by Simmons at the set of the British television show Soccer AM is now sold via an eBay auction for a price of $250,000. It went up on eBay on October 2 and the bidding ended on October 5. The eBay site has tallied 99 bids for the record.
The gum comes with a package deal. It comes with its wrapper plus the script from the show the gum was placed on. The proceeds will go to the Street League Organization, a charity that makes use of sports in helping unemployed youth in the U.K.
Until now, the buyer is still anonymous.
This is not the first time that a used chewing gum is sold in eBay. People started selling pieces of gum around 2004, to which they claimed were chewed by pop star Britney Spears.
The most expensive chewed gum ever sold was rumored to be that of Sir Alex Ferguson during his last game as manager of the Manchester United which has gone for $640,000.
